Privacy
What this blog collects when you read it or leave a comment, where it goes, and how to have it removed.
The short version
- No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The blog sets no cookies.
- If you comment, you give a name and your comment. After review, they are published with your stance and the date.
- Your IP address is never stored. A one-way, salted hash of it is kept to stop comment flooding.
- Cloudflare hosts the site and handles every request to it.
- Email shailesh7382@gmail.com to have a comment corrected or deleted.
Who runs this blog
This blog is written and run by Shailesh personally, and this page covers only this blog. Jaaniye (jaaniye.com), which some articles discuss, is a separate service. You can reach me at shailesh7382@gmail.com.
Reading the blog
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare sees the technical details of each request to deliver it: your IP address, the page you asked for, and your browser’s user-agent string. Requests to pages and to the comments service also pass through a small piece of code that Cloudflare logs briefly (the address requested, the time, the response) so I can diagnose errors. Those logs expire after a few days.
The pages load nothing from other companies: no analytics, no ads, no embedded videos or social widgets, no web fonts from third parties. The blog itself sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser. If Cloudflare’s security layer decides to challenge suspicious traffic, it may set a cookie that records you passed that check; that cookie is Cloudflare’s, and it is not used for tracking on this site.
Articles link to other sites, including jaaniye.com and the sources they cite. Those sites have their own privacy practices.
If you email me, I receive your address and message through my email provider (Google). I use them only to reply and to act on your request, and I do not share them.
Correcting or deleting your comment
Since no email address is collected, I can only find your comment from what you tell me. Write to shailesh7382@gmail.com with the article, the name you used and roughly when you posted. I can correct it, delete it, or tell you what is stored with it.
Changes to this page
If what the blog collects changes, for example if analytics are ever added, this page will be updated first and the date at the top will change.
Comments
When you post a comment, the blog stores:
No email address, account or cookie is involved. The hash is made by combining your IP address with a secret value and running it through a one-way function, so the address itself is never written down. It is used for one thing: limiting each visitor to 3 comments every 10 minutes. Because the same address always gives the same hash, it counts as pseudonymous rather than anonymous data, and I treat it that way. It is never published.
Every comment waits for my review. Until then, only I can see it. Once published, your name, stance, comment and its date are public on the article, available to anyone through the site’s comments service, and can be indexed or copied by others. Please leave out anything you would not want public. Hidden comments stay in the database but are never shown.
The form includes a hidden field and a timing check to catch automated spam. When a submission looks automated, nothing from it is stored.
Comments are stored in a Cloudflare D1 database. They are kept, along with the hash, until I delete them. If you ask, I will delete your comment and everything stored with it.
